White on Beige - A Walk in the Park

Outfit: Banana Republic Cropped ankle Jeans (similar here), Ann Taylor striped scarf (similar here), Steve Madden Studded Flats (here)

The days are getting shorter with the nights getting longer, so its rare to catch some sunlight at a nearby lake right before sunset. There's this lake near where I work that I just love because it offers the perfect balance of suburbia with the nearby tech companies. It doesn't hurt that it also has a lot of super adorable geese that boldly cross the street like they own it. :)

This outfit is as simple as a walk in the park, literally! A white shirt, scarf and distressed cropped jeans. As some of you may know, I'm a classy girl at heart. The whites, beiges, black and neutral toned colors will always be my go-to no matter what the season.

On another note, I'm so excited for my trip to Taiwan and Japan! I'm looking forward to the food, the sights, and the culture of these two beautiful countries.

Poncho and OTK boots

It's the holiday season! Things always get a little hectic this time of the year. Between planning vacations, busy work schedule, and catching up with family and friends it's hard to find some free time. The weather has been getting colder in San Francisco recently, so it's the perfect time to add a few layers and put on some boots!

Stay Hydrated for the Holidays

The holidays are coming up with the weather getting colder and finally some decent amount of rain in California last week. I'm glad I found these amazing finds to keep me hydrated as my skin dries up easily.

Current Holiday Favorites:

Nars Creamy Concealer (Custard,  here)

Hello from Korea!

Anyeong from Korea and Happy late Thanksgiving! It's super freezing here - I've never been this cold! These past few days have been 20-25°F, and after being spoiled by the warm California weather, I was definitely not ready for this.

To try and stay warm I packed a lot sweaters, my H&M jacket (here), and my blue J.Crew jacket. Unfortunately the XS petite size doesn't allow for much layering since it's form fitting, so I couldn't really move my arms and shoulders much after layering on a few sweaters. However, it really does help block out the wind. So a note for you ladies who are planning to endure weather below 30°F, get a size up to account for layering. I went on a hunt for a warmer jacket that also fit nicely and ended up finding a long down coat from Uniqlo that was super comfortable and fit perfectly!

On our first day we headed to Gyeong Bok Gung, the main royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. It was similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing but on a smaller scale. I wish it wasn't so cold as I would of loved to enjoy the picturesque gardens and walkways a bit longer.

Fall Colors and New Haircut

I've been heavily relying on scarves lately, so you won't see a shortage of them anytime soon! We had another weekend of sunny weather, but as always you need some warmth from the unexpected wind around San Francisco. I've been going on a scarf hunt from plaid to neutral toned colors, making sure the right colors match my outfits.

I've been quietly stockpiling boots as well since fall is the perfect time to keep your feet stylishly warm, so I'm excited to share my favorites in upcoming posts. I also finally got a long overdue haircut! I usually like to try different salons and this has been one of my favorites in a long time.

Black Stripes and Royal Blue

First and foremost, I'd like to extend my thoughts and prayers to the victims of the Paris shooting. It makes me sick to my stomach that there are heartless terrorists killing innocent people. What's even scarier is that we don't know if they will ever stop and where they will strike next. Every person has their dreams, their family, and their loved ones. Every life is just as important as our own. I wish they would just stop hurting people!

On a lighter note, it was very windy in San Francisco today. It was a perfect day for my J. Crew royal blue majesty peacoat (here, color sold out in petite size) paired with this white ankle jeans (here) I found at Uniqlo. For most of my basics like tank tops, tee shirts and tights, Uniqlo is usually my go-to since their fit is flattering and doesn't break the bank. I say "ankle jeans", but they don't quite hit my ankles since as I have shorter legs (heh). Instead, it came out to be a perfect length jean which I didn't need to fold or have hemmed. I usually need to wear 28inch inseams or lower for jean/pants depending on the brand. I got some food and makeup on the jeans (I'm clumsy) but there was minimal shrinkage and the stains came out entirely. Overall pretty high quality jeans!

Meet and Greet

It was so great talking to Jean (from extrapetite.com) at her Meet and Greet at Anthropologie today! Being that it was my first time attending an event like this, I didn't know what to expect and wasn't sure what I would wear. I noticed right when I walked in that I was the only one wearing a lace dress (it was freezing at night), heels and a somewhat bold necklace. But as they always say, it's better to overdress than underdress.

I also clearly had too much champagne as I started to feel a bit nervous and couldn't control my train of thought. She knew right away what brands I was wearing so she definitely has an eye for style - she's absolutely the style guru! I was wearing my first ever royal blue peacoat from J.Crew and we mentioned it received such negative reviews online, but I think the fit is flattering and still has that classy look. Glad she agreed as well! All in all it was a fun experience and hope to see Jean in San Francisco again!

Neutral Colors and Oversized Scarf

Happy November! San Francisco has been getting colder lately, but this weekend the clouds took a break while the sun shone brightly so it was comfortably warm. But because this is San Francisco, you can't leave the house without something to protect you from unexpected chills. It was the perfect weather for an oversized scarf while keeping it cool with a flowy skirt. We strolled around Chinatown for lunch and headed to the Urban Epicurean Festival at Fort Mason.

A Very Joyful Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! This year me and my co-workers decided to dress up as characters from Disney Pixar's Inside Out. I was excited I got to be Joy as she brings joy to Riley and keeps her happy, I can say we're relatable to say the least. I found the perfect lime green dress at Forever21 for only $5, what a lucky steal! I then bought some sparkly blue fabric paint to draw in starbursts on the dress.
Original dress that I found for $5. The color matches Joy's dress exactly.

Burgundy Floral Maxi and Napa

I wanted to do an early birthday celebration in Napa this weekend since next weekend overlaps with Halloween. Lucky for me, the weather was perfect. Forever a Thomas Keller fan, we had brunch at Bouchon and everything was delicious!

Women's Nike Marathon

This past weekend it was my first time participating in the Nike Women's Marathon. It was like running through a parade! There were cheerleaders, taiko drummers, loud music and people constantly cheering you on.  I've wanted to run in the Nike Women's for the longest time and I can finally check it off my bucket list. I also really like this year's Tiffany necklace compared to the ones I've seen in prior years. It was a great incentive to work towards :)

Favorite Fall Outfits

Fall has arrived but San Francisco has been surprisingly warm these couple of days. I'm a big fan of neutral colors since it pairs easily with almost everything. Just throw on a scarf with a pair of printed heels and you have a simple and chic look. Here are my current favorites!

Nepal - A Trip to Buddha's Homeland

After the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in April, I was saddened to see the historic monuments and temples being shattered, some even entirely gone. Not to mention the countless people that died and those who are struggling to rebuild their homes and communities. I really wanted to go back to lend a helping hand. I've grown a soft spot for this country I call the "land of peace" that calmed my soul during my visit in February. I truly feel bittersweet that I was able to admire the historic landmarks before the earthquake but disheartened by the disaster that struck them. Hang in there, keep on fighting Nepal!
Our hike on the outskirts of Kathmandu. Hmm where shall we go next?

Favorite beauty products of all time

Dark spots? Acne prone? Combination? Dullness? I have it all. Most products on the market these days only concentrate on one concern at a time.  While that may be effective, people like me who want to tackle multiple concerns are forced to use mountains of products or left with the costly proposition of switching from product to product.

Over the last seven years I've regularly changed my skin regime depending on what I thought my skin needed. During summers I would incorporate high SPF creams, winters would entail more moisturizing, and anything in between I would switch between acne and brightening products. Sounds like I couldn't stick to a routine where my skin can get used to since it was absorbing all these different kind of products at the same time. I knew I had to do something about it so I was very excited when Clinique came out with a custom repair serum that focuses on your own skin's needs, an all inclusive solution that tackled everything. Just what I needed.

My Current Favorites:

2. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence ( here)
3. Biore Aqua Rich BB Essence (similar  here)
4. Make Up Forever Mat Velvet Foundation ( here)
5. Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner ( here)

Beautiful Australia

Happy Thursday everyone! The weekend is almost here. I want to share my trip to Australia back in December for this week's throwback Thursday. We stayed in Sydney which reminded me like Asia, the sense that there was always something thrilling going on somewhere and if you turned the corner, you could be part of it. I love the wide array of diversity of modern and old architecture from Jorn Utzon’s Expressionist Sydney Opera House to the large amount of Victorian buildings such as the Queen Victoria Building with British Colonial influence. Not to mention the lively food scene, the charm of a coastal setting with endless days at the beach and so much more. I miss the land down under!

Favorite outfit - Floral top and Lace skirt

I've always had an infatuation with florals and lace. Never thought I would find the perfect outfit a couple hours before a friend's wedding. It was very rushed and was worried I wouldn't find the right look but it worked out beautifully! Summer is definitely still in full swing in Santa Rosa and it felt hotter than NYC when we were there couple weeks ago.

TBT - Panther Beach Photoshoot

Happy Thursday! This is one of my favorite photoshoot with my best friend at Panther Beach. The floral strapless dress from GUESS (I haven't shopped there in so long!) in my opinion is still in style and goes really well with my black sandals that I bought a couple years back at Ambiance, San Francisco. The sandals are Seychelles and I even hiked Stone Mountain (Atlanta) in them! They're still in great shape and proves to be durable. Probably not going to have a chance to do a photoshoot at the beach anytime soon with Fall coming and the weather cooling down. Reminiscing the warm sunny days!

I Love New York

Over the labor day weekend I finally made my first trip to the Big Apple! I missed New York Fashion Week by two days but it was already a packed weekend, there's so much to soak in. We were so fortunate to able to get reservations at Per Se for brunch when we first arrived. It was the most exquisite dining experience I've ever had. It was hard enough to get reservations at French Laundry in Napa so I was very excited to be able to dine at Thomas Keller's other 3 michelin star restaurant.

Cooking Adventure at Guy Savoy Vegas

Over the weekend we headed to Vegas for a short getaway and decided to do something different. We signed up for a cooking class at Guy Savoy restaurant at Caesar's Palace, cooking alongside world-renowned Executive Chef Chartron. We didn't know what to expect but right when we stepped into the kitchen, it was like we were on a set of Top Chef on Food Network, it was all very surreal! We were set to cook two dishes: Chilled Pea and Crab Soup and Lamb Rack with Rigatoni Gratin.

Chilled Pea and Crab Soup

  • 1lb of English Peas
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 liter of vegetable stock
  • 1/2 cup of crab meat
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 Bunch Chives
  • 1/2 Cup of Grape Seed Oil
  • 2 Lemons
  • Espelette Pepper to taste
  • Peppercress
  • White vinegar
We first blanched the peas for about 10min, depending how hard the peas are, it can go for more or less. Afterwards we shocked them in cold water to stop the cooking process. Once the peas are soft and cooled down, we proceeded in peeling the outer skin of the peas to create a smooth texture and blended it and added lemon, salt and pepper. Keep the peas cold by putting it in a bowl of ice. Follow by blending chives with grape seed oil and strain through a cheesecloth. Chef Chartron told us that just these two simple ingredients can enhance the flavor and bring richness to any dish, especially soups. Poach the eggs in boiling water with vinegar and wrap the egg whites around the egg.

Top 10 most recent memorable deliciousness

These past two years I have eaten many, in my opinion, amazingly delicious dishes that I would never thought to experience. Thanks to the bf, I am slowly on my way to becoming a pro food critic. Just kidding! But my palate has definitely become more sophisticated. I'm revisiting my top 10 most recent memorable dishes and some that I stumbled upon that's worth mentioning.

Valentino knock offs

I've always had my eye on the studded Valentino flats but thought they cost too much. I went into a Steve Madden store the other day and I'm glad I did! The shoe is sturdy and its good quality. It really does look like the actual Valentino flat except less shiny.
